When the television cameras are on him, Trump promises many things and pretends to be a concerned and somewhat competent president. When they are off, he reverts to his fascist and failed personal beliefs. He has proven this with his intention to end DACA, and is now proving it with his failure to protect innocent Americans from growing gun violence in America.
In front of the cameras, he suggested raising the age to purchase guns to 21. He promised to ban bump stocks. He even accused members of his own party of cowering before the NRA. Yesterday he reneged on every comment and is bowing to the NRA’s hard line.
A suggestion to younger Americans. When you go to the polls on November 6th remember Trump and his hypocritical party. They are owned by the NRA. Any man or woman who accepts campaign contributions from the gun lobby must be voted out of office. I am speaking to many of the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, who will be able to vote this year.
Let’s be perfectly clear; Trump will never do the right thing. He simply doesn’t give a damn about the future of America or the welfare of our nation’s people. Trump cares about Trump.
The only answer is the logical answer; ban military assault rifles and high output magazines. The number of deaths in Las Vegas, a church in a small Texas town, and in a Florida high school would never have reached such extreme levels if the single gunmen had not been armed with military weapons they purchased legally.
From Sandy Hook to Douglas High School, Republicans have proven that they care more about campaign contributions than the safety of the American people. Let’s show them that we will no longer accept their apathy. If any candidate has an “R” next to his or her name, vote for their opposition. They will understand how real Americans are more important than lobbyists, and we will win the war they have waged on us for 25+ years.
