I thought I’d bring you up to date about what’s happening in Trumpland today; at least until noon on Wednesday.
Paul Ryan is claiming that the huge upset in Pennsylvania yesterday in congressional district 18 was ‘no big deal.’ “This is something you’re not going to see repeated,” House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) insisted on Wednesday, moments after he reportedly told his caucus behind closed doors that the flipped seat was a “wakeup call” for Republicans.
‘No big deal?’ Upsets in Virginia, Alabama, and now Pennsylvania should have all members of the House peeing in their pants. All 435 members are up for reelection on November 6th.
If any Republican takes money from the NRA or supports Trump’s destructive agenda, they will lose support from Independents; and we are now the majority of voters.
In Seaside, California, a ‘trained’ teacher discharged a pistol in his class room. A 17-year-old boy was not seriously injured. He was hit with shrapnel from the bullet and debris from the ceiling. Approximately 95 percent of teachers believe that arming educators is a ridiculous idea. They just might be on to something.
Thousands of students walked out of their classrooms today. It was exactly one month ago that 17 students and educators were murdered at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida. In Washington D.C. Students stood outside of the White House and were silent for 17 seconds to honor their slain brothers and sisters. They continue to demand that congress pass effective and fair gun laws.
Trey Gowdy is a Republican Representative from South Carolina. He held four investigations into the tragedy in Benghazi. Now he is criticizing his fellow Republicans for ending the investigation into Trump’s collusion with Russia, and for its final conclusion. Friends of the Congressman claim that he “disagrees with the conclusion.” Gowdy said that the evidence gathered by the committee clearly showed Russia’s disdain for Trump’s rival, Hillary Clinton, and was “motivated in whole or in part by a desire to harm her candidacy or undermine her Presidency had she prevailed.” Duh!
The director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, lied; again. He denied that his agency was arresting, terrorizing and deporting innocent immigrants. Thomas Homan obviously shares the same ignorant beliefs as Trump and Jeff Sessions. “How dare she say we are terrorizing communities,” Homan said, arguing that it’s the immigrants in country illegally that ICE arrested who are posing the threat. He wears the title of ‘bigot’ very well. There have been multiple reports that ICE agents are mistreating immigrants they arrest; treating them as ‘subhumans.’
And finally, at least until noon, Trump continues to defend Vladimir Putin. He has refused to answer questions, or to mention the fact proven by British Intelligence that Putin ordered a former spy to be poisoned with a deadly nerve gas in a small town in England. Collusion? That and much, much more.
