Supported by Trump and the NRA, an Armed California Teacher Injures a Student after Discharging his Handgun

NRA (2)

Trump and the NRA have a “can’t miss” solution to gun violence in our nation’s schools; more guns. Arm the teachers and no one will be injured or killed. Well, maybe.

Seaside California is in the northern part of the state. Yesterday an incident at Seaside High School was the result of a teacher who was armed with a handgun. A 17-year-old student was injured when teacher Dennis Alexander discharged his weapon in a classroom.

This has raised more questions about the idea of arming teachers with handguns and expecting them to challenge a killer armed with a military assault rifle and wearing a bulletproof vest. More importantly, why did this man fire a weapon at the ceiling inside of a crowded classroom. Was he properly trained?

“I think a lot of questions on parents’ minds are, why a teacher would be pointing a loaded firearm at the ceiling in front of students,” Superintendent PK Diffenbaugh told CNN affiliate KSBW. “Clearly in this incident protocols were not followed.”

‘Stupid is as stupid does.’

Today students all over the nation are planning a walkout just one month after a deranged young man murdered 17 students and educators in Florida. No civilian should be allowed to own a military weapon; period.
