Don’t Forget Flint, Michigan; a perfect Example of how Republicans Fail to Govern Intelligently

Snyder (2)

Because of Trump’s failures as our illegitimate president, 2014 seems like ancient history. Every day has become the longest day of the year. What happened in 2014 must not be forgotten. A Republican governor failed his state’s people in another effort to serve the wealthy and ignore the working class and minorities. Rick Snyder is a perfect example and proof of Republican’s inability to govern intelligently and effectively.

On April 25, 2014, Snyder and his Republican constituents diverted Flint Michigan’s water from the Detroit water system to the Flint River. Complaints came immediately about taste, smell, and clarity.

The water proved to be corrosive to the pipes which carried it to consumers. Shortly after the switch, a General Motors automobile plant turned off the water supply; it was damaging the parts used to construct its vehicles.

When the water was eventually tested the results revealed that an unusually high level of lead was present. Lead is extremely dangerous to younger Americans. The residents of Flint were instructed not to drink the sludge coming from their faucets. Bottled water was delivered to homes, and filters were offered to all homes in the area. Flint’s population is over 57 percent African American.

The problems have not been fully corrected, and the damage caused from drinking the water will not be revealed for 10 to 20 years. Republicans are hoping that the American people will simply forget about this man made tragedy.

Subordinates of Rick Snyder have been fired based on his decision to alter Flint’s water supply. He remains in office.

This is how Republicans govern our states and our nation. They have no idea how to care for the people who elected them. In Washington McConnell, Ryan, and their fuhrer, Donald Trump have continued to prove this fact. We can change the future of our nation and our states. If a candidate has an “R” next to their name, vote for their opponent; and vote for yourself.
