The Republican Party is broken, and Republican voters are to blame. In 2010 the demise of the once Grand Old Party began. Uninformed voters elected the first members of the TEA Party. These extremists were funded by billionaires like the Koch brothers. Their instructions were to obstruct our government. They are not allowed to deliberate with moderates in their own party and refuse to speak to Democrats. Compromise is out of the question.
Now we have an even more extreme group in the House calling themselves the ‘Freedom Caucus.’ The fact that Republicans continue to move further to the right has made governing impossible. These are the core reasons why the Republican Party is fractured and is imploding.
For more than 25 years they have been the party of special interests. With the influx of hardcore extremists they have proven themselves incapable of governing and it only took 13 months and 15 days.
In 9 years, and one-and-a-half months Republicans have failed to pass one significant bill other that Trump’s “tax reform” which is in reality a gift to Trump and other wealthy Americans and will harm the working class and increase poverty.
Bob Goodlatte is the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. He is a perfect example of why the Republican Party is failing the American people. Moderate Republicans have been making efforts to find a solution for DACA, or the ‘Dreamers.’ Goodlatte refuses to budge from his position. He joins Trump in believing that all undocumented workers should be deported, although most Americans and many companies who employ dreamers are in favor of giving them an opportunity to become citizens. More proof that Republicans are serving the wealthy and ignoring the majority of the American people.
This is what’s wrong with the Republican Party. They have the worst of the worst in the House and the Senate. Far too many members of their party are like Goodlatte; they lack the desire or the ability to debate issues and find a solution which will have a positive effect on all Americans. In addition, they have failed leadership in Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan.
We can change all of that with our greatest weapon; our vote. November 6th is coming soon.
