My Hopes for a few Patriotic Republicans have been Dashed

Republicans in name only

Just months ago I believed that a few moderate Republicans had decided that they were going to stand up to Trump and be patriotic Americans. Patriotism means being loyal to your country, and we, the people, are the country. The United States is not composed of real estate, buildings, our government, or a political party. If you claim to be a patriot, the people, all of them, will be your only priority. Today only a single one of those few continues to denounce Trump’s failures.

Senators Bob Corker, from Tennessee, Jeff Flake, from Arizona, Susan Collins, from Maine, and John McCain told the truth about not only Trump’s failures, but also his anti-American agenda. That was then.

Today Corker is back to his old self; the man who supported Trump during the campaign without question. His statements questioning Trump’s mental ability to lead our nation got him attention, but it now appears that he did not mean what he told the media.

Flake is not running for reelection, and although he occasionally offers criticism of Trump, he votes in favor of every proposal offered by the orange man, fully aware that they will harm the majority of all Americans. He is another Republican hypocrite.

Susan Collins has admitted that she lied about Trump’s destructive and self-serving “tax reform.” She has failed the people of Maine, and does not deserve to be reelected.

John McCain is the only one of the four who continues to be mostly truthful. I have often criticized the senior senator from Arizona, but when he offers facts without fear of repercussions, I stand up with and for him.

The Republican Party; the entire party; fails to represent the people. They have waged war on the majority for approximately 25 years, and it’s time for change.

The once Grand Old Party is now Republican in name only. They lack principles and morals, and have proven in just 14 months that they are unable to govern. In control of all three branches of our government, they have been unable to pass one positive piece of legislation which affects all Americans.

It has been nine years, two months, and two days since Republicans have one true accomplishment to their credit.

We can win the war. The date of the revolution is November 6, 2018. Voting all Republicans out of office will not only win the war against the Republican Party, it will remove all of Trump’s power. Trump will become a dictator hiding in the West Wing, or more likely at Mar-a-Lago.
