Republican politicians have a very small base. They are primarily older, white, Christian Americans. For decades they have ignored minorities, women, and the LGBTQ community. This will cost them their party in the not so distant future. Extremists are now in control of the once Grand Old Party.

This is what the gun lobby, the NRA, is saying about real Americans after Saturday’s inspiring protests, who happen to be the next generation of voters.

“Today’s protests aren’t spontaneous,” the post declared. “Gun-hating billionaires and Hollywood elites are manipulating and exploiting children as part of their plan to DESTROY the Second Amendment and strip us of our right to defend ourselves and our loved ones.”

This is always their first tactic; to include the second amendment which is not relevant to the cause of these targets of the NRA and their support of military style weapons. Secondly, their solution to gun violence, which is escalating every year, is always more guns.

“These kids ought to be marching against their own hypocritical belief structures,” a spokesman for the NRA said, adding: “The only reason we’ve ever heard of them is because the guns didn’t come soon enough.”

Here’s the truth; truth Republicans and their owners will not accept as fact. Only five percent of Americans are members of the NRA, but the NRA owns over one-half of our nation’s legislators. Prior to 1976, the NRA was a gun safety organization. It is now a representative for gun manufacturers and gun sellers. It is no longer concerned with the safety of our nation’s citizens; profit before people is their treasured motto.

Here are some statistics which should frighten Republican politicians who appear to choose ignorance over fact.

Women compose 50.9 percent of the population of the United States. These young men and women have mothers whose primary concern is the safety of their children; how do you think they’ll vote? Millennials are the largest voting bloc in America, and they are overwhelmingly supportive of their younger brothers and sisters. With a large turnout on November 6, 2018, Republicans will lose the House and the Senate. Without congress, Trump will become a lame duck president. He will become a dirty old man without political power, and be removed from office based on ethics crimes, immoral actions, and his refusal to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.

It’s your country; take control of it.
