Trump’s Biggest F**k Up Continues to Be our Nation’s Biggest Embarrassment

Hurricane Maria

Everything Trump heralds as an accomplishment is either one of President Obama’s successes or has actually been an abject failure. However, Trump’s biggest f**k up is the continuing disaster in Puerto Rico. His appointee who heads FEMA is a total failure; 3.4 million Americans continue to live in virtual squalor.

It has been more than six months since Hurricane Maria destroyed the island. Many Americans remain unconnected to the electrical power system, and safe drinking water remains in short supply. Many of the homes which did receive electricity are without it once again as the transformers failed.

My daughter lives in South Florida. Her home and her neighbor’s homes have been fully repaired and their lives are back to normal. Americans in Puerto Rico are not close to returning to normal life. Maybe Trump should revisit the island and throw out some more paper towels.

Trump is once again partying in Mar-a-Lago this weekend. He is too busy tweeting about Amazon and the Washington Post to pay attention to the plight of 3.4 Americans who happen to be mostly Hispanic.

San Juan’s Mayor, Carmen Yulin Cruz, has been a consistent and relenting leader in the cause to fully repair Puerto Rico and return a decent quality of life to her people. The director of FEMA attempted to defend his agency’s feeble efforts.

We filtered out the mayor a long time ago. We don’t have time for the political noise,” FEMA administrator Brock Long told ABC News when asked about early morning tweets by Cruz.

Mr. Long is another poor choice by Trump. However, he has learned from his boss how to lie and misdirect the facts. Trump’s entire administration is unqualified and unfit for the positions they now hold.

Retired Army Lieutenant General Russell Honore questioned Trump’s judgment.

We have the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. We go anytime, anywhere we want in the world. And in Puerto Rico we did not use those assets the way they should have been used.”

Many of the issues which have been repaired in Puerto Rico have already failed. Brock and his subordinates are obviously incompetent. But the Republican congress and your illegitimate president are not concerned; the people of the island are Hispanic and they cannot vote in our elections. These are their priorities.
