For those of you who do not know who Robert Mercer is, it’s primarily because he chooses to act in secrecy one hundred percent of the time. We began learning about Mercer when he backed Ted Cruz’ campaign. When Cruz withdrew his bid for the Republican nomination, Mercer moved his money, Steve Bannon, and Kellyanne Conway to Trump’s camp. These were his first three efforts to help Trump win the election.
Mercer was also the principle financier of the extremist right wing racist blog and radio broadcast, Breitbart. Bannon had been the chief executive at Breitbart before he left to run Cruz’ campaign. As for Kellyanne Conway; well; she’s ‘Kellyanne Conway.’
Mercer aided Trump in two other ways. He is the owner of ‘Cambridge Analytics,’ and ‘Secure America Now.’
We’ve learned a great deal about Cambridge Analytics recently. Through its efforts CA learned the private information of as many as 87 million Facebook users, and applied some of it to the 2016 efforts to secure a victory for Trump.
Secure America Now used fear tactics which are Republican’s favorite tactic and lie. In this situation, they focused on Americans who suffer from xenophobia; fearing that Muslims will take control of our nation and the world.
SAN’s efforts included an ad titled “Welcome to the Islamic State of America,” in which a female narrator says, “Weak leaders, who have allowed unsecured borders and Syrian refugee immigration, enabled our jihadi fighters to infiltrate and overtake America.” The video features the Hollywood hills adorned with “Allahu Akbar,” the Statue of Liberty wearing a burka, and young voices saying, “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the Islamic State of America.”
The Republican Party cannot win elections without constant lies and innuendos. The truth is their enemy. They are not the party of the American people; they are the party of special interests and billionaires including Mercer and Trump.
Let’s help them find a new life. Vote them out of office in November and elect younger men and women; maybe even an African American, a Hispanic, or a Muslim. It’s time that our government represented the American people; all of us. Our diversity is to be celebrated. Hey, Donny Boy; are you listening? I doubt it.
