FEMA; Another Major Failure of the Trump Administration

Hurricane Maria

Today 3.4 million American citizens are without electrical power. It has been over six months since Hurricane Maria destroyed most of Puerto Rico, and life has not improved for many of the island’s people.

Trump’s FEMA appears to be ‘overwhelmed,’ according to local residents. Prior to today’s complete power failure, millions of Puerto Rico’s people have not had electricity since the hurricane struck the island, and others continue to have difficulty acquiring safe water.

Here are the facts. First of all, although the island’s people are all American citizens, they cannot vote in our elections. This issue is one of the reasons this Republican president and the Republican controlled congress has failed to show any urgency to complete repairs for the island’s people. Secondly, nearly all of the 3.4 million Americans on the island are Hispanic.

We must remember that Trump did his part when he visited the island; he threw paper towels at some of the survivors.

Every American knows that Trump’s choices for advisers and his cabinet were the worst possible since 1789. This also includes Brock Long, Trump’s FEMA director.

Texas and Florida suffered heavy damage from hurricanes during the same time period. The lives of these state’s residents are back to normal for the most part.

Trump is not only without morals and incompetent, he is without compassion for others. He refuses to discuss the mess his agency has made of Puerto Rico’s reconstruction.

Millions of American voters made the biggest mistake of their lives on November 8, 2016; and all Americans are suffering from it, including the people of this small island.

Take away Trump’s power by voting his cowardly and hypocritical party out of Washington. November 6 is coming soon.
