Does anyone other than myself remember the ugliest campaign in history? Republicans began with 17 buffoons in the clown car, and after the first debate in August of 2015, Trump became the driver. Through 12 debates not a single issue important to the American people was discussed. Bickering, name calling, and personal attacks were exchanged by most of the participants.
In the early debates the most vicious exchanges were between Trump and Jeb Bush. As the candidates began to end their campaigns, Trump’s attacks on Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio became ruthless and very undignified; proving to most Americans that he was unfit to become our nation’s next president.
Eventually only one of the clowns and the driver remained and the Republican Party placed all their hopes on one candidate who was already known as the ‘most hated man in Washington;’ Ted Cruz. This inspired Trump to become even more vile in his attacks on his last remaining opponent. He became even more personal with his childish and pitiful misuse of the English language. Cruz simply stated the truth; Trump was, and remains, unfit to be the President of the United States.
The bitterness reached a pinnacle when Trump virtually called Trump’s wife, Heidi “ugly.” But it didn’t end there. Trump made a claim that Cruz’ father was involved with Lee Harvey Oswald in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Cruz last effort to derail Trump occurred in July of 2016 at the Republican convention. Cruz made a speech which was not supportive of Donald Trump; the feud continued although Trump was now the presumptive nominee.
Here’s where we learned about Cruz lack of character, dignity, and principles. After the nomination process ended, Cruz campaigned for Trump; vigorously. He became the biggest hypocrite in America’s history. No longer did he talk about how Trump was unfit to be the president or the fact that he lacked any experience in government and was completely unqualified, he turned 180 degrees and praised him for his “platform.”
Cruz is one of eight Republican Senators who is up for reelection on November sixth. Trump has endorsed him, which may be a liability; he is facing the strongest Democratic candidate in Texas for decades; Beto O’Rourke.
Although he currently leads in the polls in the very red state of Texas, Cruz may have harmed himself even more than his destructive record in the Senate reveals. He is gushing about Trump’s “greatness.” This is the same man who once warned that our nation would “plunge into the abyss” under a Donald Trump presidency — is now offering gushing praise for the President, calling him a much-needed “flash-bang grenade” who has upended the status quo in Washington for the better.
“The fact that his first year as commander in chief disoriented and distressed members of the media and political establishment is not a bug but a feature,” the Texas Republican wrote of Trump for Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people of 2018 that was published Thursday.
The election is less than seven months away, and Robert Mueller’s investigation appears to be moving quickly. If Trump faces criminal charges; possibly treason; those who continue to strongly support their immoral and unfit leader will suffer enormous damage. Eliminating Cruz from the Senate would increase the entire body’s credibility.
Join the revolution; you’ll be proud when we take our country back from the enemy.
