Last night was the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. Reading all the comments from various journalists, what I expected, happened. Those who either support, or accept Trump’s fascist administration, were angry enough to call for an end to the event.
The host was a comedian and a writer by the name of Michelle Wolf. Many of you are likely unaware of her history. She is 32 years old, and most recently she worked as a writer on Late Night with Seth Meyers, and is now a member of the Daily Show.
I consider her to be very funny. Ms. Wolf is a devout liberal, and this is why Trump refused to attend the event; again. There was no mercy shown for Trump or Sarah Huckabee Sanders. After reading multiple articles, the jokes were rough, but none were not a referral to actual facts reported in the media.
Most of her jokes were very funny, but some were simply passable. This is usually the case with political humor.
As any of you who read me regularly would expect, I enjoyed her jibes at the worst president in American history. He deserves them for two reasons. First; they were the truth. If he doesn’t want to be laughed at, he shouldn’t act the most ignorant man in America. He should find some sense of morality, and do his job; serving all of the American people. He should find some dignity and act like an American president. Second; he has no sense of humor. I remember one part of James Comey’s book when he described joining Trump for dinner. He said that throughout the entire meal Trump did not smile or laugh once.
Here are a couple of Ms. Wolf’s quips. If you like them, you love your country; if you don’t, you are willing to accept slavery under our nation’s first fascist and illegitimate president.
“I’m 32, which is a weird age — 10 years too young to host this event, and 20 years too old for Roy Moore.”
“[Trump] loves white nationalists, which is a weird term for a Nazi. Calling a Nazi a white nationalist is like calling a pedophile a ‘kid friend.’ Or Harvey Weinstein a ‘ladies man.'”
What we now have learned to expect, Trump couldn’t wait to tweet his defense of Saturday evening’s trashing of the Trump administration. On Sunday morning his tiny thumbs went to work.
“While Washington, Michigan, was a big success, Washington, D.C., just didn’t work. Everyone is talking about the fact that the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was a very big, boring bust … the so-called comedian really ‘bombed.'”
Wolf was righteous when she lambasted Trump’s paid liar.
“I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s very resourceful.” Wolf then joked: “She burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye. Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s lies. It’s probably lies.”
Looking back at the eight WHCD attended by a real president, Mr. Obama was the butt of many jokes; many of which were not kind. The difference between Trump and President Obama is that Trump has an enormous ego and an extremely weak temperament. Simply put, he cannot take a joke. He lacks the intellect to verbally respond to anything without viciously attacking any individual who offers even the most minor criticism.
I want to thank Ms. Wolf for having the courage very few men would have had to use humor so skillfully as rightful and accurate criticism of our nation’s biggest mistake.
Finally, to those who are angry about the event; get over yourselves. Other presidents have fared well during and after the event. All you are upset about is that Trump has given comedians so much material. Now that’s historic.
