I begin this article with a little history and a lot of truth. The NRA is a facade; it is no longer a gun rights or a gun safety organization.
Until 1976 the NRA was a respected organization which promoted both gun safety and sensible gun legislation. The fact is that many of the laws we have today were written by the NRA.
After 1976 it became closely associated with gun manufacturers and gun sellers; realizing that there was money to be made. The truth is that the NRA is no longer concerned about gun safety, the protection of the majority, or even the second amendment. Its only goal is increasing gun sales.
Each time a shameful and devastating mass shooting occurs in America, the NRA’s answer, voiced by Republicans, is more guns. Moronic slogans such as ‘the best defense against a bad man with a gun is a good guy with a gun’ are actually an embarrassment to intelligent Americans.
On May 4th Mike Pence will speak at the NRA’s annual convention in Dallas, Texas. Now, read this carefully; the NRA will ban guns during the vice-president’s speech. Really?
The NRA is blaming the secret service for the restriction.
“As a result, firearms and firearm accessories, knives or weapons of any kind will be prohibited in the forum prior to and during his attendance,” the NRA said. A detailed list of prohibited items includes ammunition, drones, gun parts, firearm magazines, and even signs and glass containers.
Is this hypocrisy, or is this an admission that the Trump/Pence administration is the worst and the most hated presidency in American history? Although records prove that left wing activists are far less violent than those on the right, Trump has succeeded in his efforts to promote hatred in America; most of it directed at him and his circle of sinners.
If the Republican Party was not indebted to the NRA for millions of dollars in campaign contributions, this lobby would be insignificant. It has only 10 million members. The NRA relies on politicians to retain power and influence.
Whether you live in a ‘blue’ or a ‘red’ state, Republicans are the enemy. They do not represent you regardless of your personal beliefs, needs, or desires. They promise many things, but when elected, they serve themselves and special interests. Voting for a party and not for yourself and your family is choosing ignorance over your future.
Please vote on November 6th.
