After hurricanes damaged two states whose electoral votes were gifted to Donald Trump, his administration hurried to assist in the repairs of homes and businesses. However, when 3.4 million Americans lost everything after Hurricane Maria destroyed the island of Puerto Rico, progress was slow and shoddy. Nearly eight months after the devastation occurred, Puerto Rico remains mostly unhealthy and uninhabitable. This is an American possession which is primarily Hispanic.
While tens of thousands of Puerto Rico’s people continue to have tarps for roofs, it has become increasingly obvious that FEMA is not eager to help these desperate Americans.
“FEMA has gotten over 1.1 million disaster assistance applications from people living in all situations. But only 40 percent – two of every five – get approved.”
Trump would prefer to spend money an a military parade similar to those demanded by his idols, Adolf Hitler, and Vladimir Putin.
I blame the mainstream media for Trump’s inaction. They refuse to keep this tragedy at the front of their news broadcasts. They are more interested in reporting Trump’s latest lie, or offering praise to him for the accomplishments of President Obama.
The lives the people of Texas and Florida are back to normal; I know this to be a fact because my daughter and her family live in southwestern Florida. Safe water, leaky tarps, electricity outages, mold, asthma, and other problems remain throughout much of the island. This is unforgivable.
Trump is a self-centered egomaniac who lacks morals and compassion. He believes that throwing paper towels at a few of Puerto Rico’s citizens solved all of their problems.
Call your representatives and senators and demand that they force their illegitimate president to care for all 3.4 million Americans. Hurricane season is coming again; and soon.
