If Trump’s illegitimate presidency is to last for four years, our nation will cease to exist in less than two decades. The United States is following the path to demise of the Roman Empire, and Trump is the reincarnation of Emperor Nero.

First of all, let’s admit that Trump believes in fascism. After he was gifted the election by Vladimir Putin and the Electoral College, he believed that he was a monarch and not a public servant. The majority of the American people are considered beneath his existence and importance.

However, more comparisons between the Roman Empire, and how America is following history are far more frightening.

The Roman empire’s leaders experienced exorbitant election financing without transparency. Thanks to a corrupt Supreme Court, Citizens United has achieved this Republican goal.

Trump has used his illegitimate presidency to increase his personal wealth as did every emperor in the Roman empire.

Continuous wars of varying levels misdirected the attention of domestic failure within the nation; a shared effort by Rome and our failed Republican dominated government for decades.

These wars have allowed foreign intervention in our election. Trump received hundreds of millions of dollars from foreign agents for his inauguration. Only a small percentage of this money was spent for the actual event; a benefit shared by Roman aristocracy.

Roman emperors used their position for financial gain from foreign business interests. Trump has increased his personal profit by hundreds of millions of dollars in only 16 months and 17 days.

This is no surprise to anyone who is an informed American. The middle class is disappearing. Increases in low-income Americans and those living in poverty are growing daily in the same manner as they occurred in the Roman Empire.

Most Americans who understand gerrymandering by the Republican Party would be surprised to learn that similar efforts were made by those in power in ancient Rome.

The most likely comparison of America and the Roman Empire is the elimination of compromise in our government. Trump has eliminated a two party system in America. Only his cowardly and hypocritical party is allowed to participate in Trump’s failed administration.

Trump has been accurately compared to the Roman Emperor, Nero. He is a bully and a pervert who has no morals and no respect for the rule of law. Nero was the most debauched emperor in Rome’s history, and was the impetus for the end of an empire.

Finally, let’s end on a positive note. Every special election and every primary election since Trump became our illegitimate president reveals one fact. America’s largest demographic is women. They are winning elections at a historical rate. The ‘year of the woman’ is extending into 2018. On January 21, 2017, the most historic march on Washington gave real Americans hope. On March 24, 2018, America’s youth marched on our nation’s capital and supported the revolution begun by our female citizens. There is hope that America will not continue its downward slide into destruction. In the Roman Empire, women were virtually powerless.

Republicans are the enemy, and change must come.
