The only time in the last 25+ years that Republicans address issues important to the American people is when they are seeking reelection. When the election is over, they rewrite the bills favoring special interest groups such as the NRA, the Christian Religious Right, Big Oil, the pharmaceutical companies and others. Republicans are planning to use an issue Trump has completely ignored in a desperate effort to save their seats in November.

House “leadership,” (now there’s a joke), plans to introduce about 70 bills concerned with the opioid crisis; mostly by voice, which of course means without substantive content.

Two issues are of paramount concern for most Americans; sensible gun legislation and the opioid crisis.

Mass shootings continue to be a serious problem. White, domestic terrorists have slaughtered more Americans than all other hate groups combined. Logic would guarantee that sensible legislation would be adopted by both parties after each of our many school shootings. However, right wing politicians continue to obey the demands of the NRA, and nothing has been done. Cowards.

Last year more than 58,000 Americans lost their lives because of a drug overdose. Most of these unnecessary deaths were directly related to the abuse of opioids. These pain killers have been freely prescribed by doctors, and the pharmaceutical companies continued to claim that they were safe. Lies. When opioids became unavailable or too costly, many of those addicted to the painkillers turned to the more accessible and less expensive heroin.

During Trump’s vile rallies, he promised to immediately address the crisis. In 16 months and 27 days he has done absolutely nothing.

Now Republican members of the House who are facing serious opposition in November plan to use the opioid crisis to win votes. Don’t be fooled. These hypocrites bow to Trump’s every demand; this is another lie, another con by the right wing.

Independents and Democrats will do something about the issues most important to the majority of the American people. Republicans are the enemy, and Trump wants to become America’s first fuhrer. Save your country; vote on November 6^th.
