Trump has made many, many mistakes in the 17 months and two days he has been in office, and not a single positive success. The one ‘accomplishment’ he claims gave permanent tax breaks to the wealthy, including himself, and major corporations. This will result in the addition of at least $1.8 trillion to the national debt. But he and White House budget director, Mick Mulvaney, have a plan to reduce some of this debt. They want to increase the number of families living in poverty and reduce or end programs which offer them relief. They will also allow millions of low-income Americans to fall below the poverty line.
Let me reveal the first lie now. Trump and Mulvaney will tell you that they are ‘reducing government spending.’ Trump’s administration is the most expensive in American history. His cabinet, and heads of departments are wasting millions of dollars for their personal pleasure. They use private and military aircraft for both business and personal travel. They purchase luxury items with the use of taxpayer money. Trump and his family waste more than 16 million taxpayer dollars each month as they continue to enjoy privilege and luxury at your expense.
What are Trump and Mulvaney planning to further harm low-income and impoverished Americans? First of all they plan to end several programs which make it possible for 43+ million Americans struggling in poverty to survive. One example is the ‘Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program’ or SNAP. They will label this program as ‘welfare.’ Why is this important? Attaching this label will make it easier to remove this program entirely. For you who are unaware of what SNAP is, you might know its original name, ‘food stamps.’
Elaine Waxman is a senior fellow in the Income and Benefits Policy Center at the Urban Institute, a nonpartisan Washington think tank.
“The programs you can call welfare are actually very small in comparison to SNAP, which is an income support necessary to help families, workers and millions of kids,” she said.
The goal of all presidents prior to this illegitimate dictator was to raise low-income American’s income levels and prevent them from falling below the poverty line. Mulvaney and Trump plan to “reorganize” 45 job training programs down to 16 job training programs, move Community Development Block Grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to the Commerce Department, and potentially merge the Labor and Education Departments.
Let’s be clear; merging these two departments will fundamentally eliminate both of them.
If you are a history buff, as am I, you might remember that these are steps similar to those of Adolf Hitler when he received power in 1930’s Germany. Trump, his family, and his circle of sinners continue to live like royalty, as he attempts to consolidate government under his personal control.
Finally, let me offer one final fact. Trump could not do any of this if we had Democrats in control of the House and Senate. McConnell, Ryan, and their ‘subjects’ are fully supporting Trump’s fascist agenda.
Vote on November 6th.
