Trump’s Vile Immigration Policies are Resulting in Irreversible Harm to thousands of Children, and Disgrace upon our Nation

Refugee child

If you have or had children, imagine your child at five years of age. Life where you live now is unbearable and your lives are threatened every day. You inform your child that the two of you were going on a journey. It would be very long and very difficult, but others had made it before you two. There was a country to our north where people lived free, and there was hope for the future.

Arriving at that nation’s borders not only were the two of you arrested by men and women wearing military type uniforms, you were separated. Neither of you knew if you would ever see each other again. There had been no paperwork and not even an honest discussion about the crime you supposedly committed.

Now, imagine that you are that five-year-old child. You don’t know where you are, and you can’t find your mother. Your tears go unnoticed. You are told to sleep on a floor with what appear to be many, many other children of various ages. Your are confused and afraid; no, not afraid, terrified.

Then one day a man in that same uniform comes to take you away. Are you being taken to your mother? You are strapped into a car and driven away. It seems like you’ve been in that car for a long time when it finally stops. You are in front of a big building; is this where mommy went?

You are taken inside. There are rows of chairs. You are taken to the front where other children are sitting. In the very front of the room is a large table. In a few minutes a man wearing some sort of black dress enters and everyone stands; he sits on top of the big table.

One by one the children are taken to a chair next to the big table. They are asked questions. When it was this child’s turn, and he or she was sitting in that chair, he or she looked around the room desperately searching for his or her mother. She’s not there.

“What’s your name?” asked Judge Robert Hough. An interpreter repeated the question in Spanish to the small child.

Es un avion” — “It’s a plane!” — the child replied, pointing at a picture book with an illustration of a plane.

If this sounds surreal, it should. Sadly, this is exactly what is happening today. Small children are being interrogated in a court of law. They have no representation; illegal immigrants are not allowed to have attorneys.

Not only will Trump go to hell for this, if there is one, our nation’s once great reputation is harmed forever. As for what will happen to thousands of these children, no one has any idea. It appears impossible to reunite parents and children, ICE has been unable to produce any documentation which links child and parent.

These are human rights violations which have been committed by fascist governments for decades, including Nazi Germany, Russia under Josef Stalin, and Italy during WWII. This is not America; this is a violation of American principles, and real Christians will tell you it is a sin against the law of God.

The fact that Republicans are not livid tells you about their lack of character. They have no morals and no compassion. They support Trump’s beliefs in fascism. One entire party has decided that the Nazi party was right; autocracy eliminates those damned elections. Fascism guarantees that one party will be in power forever.

Heil Trump?!!??? Or is it ‘grad kozyrya?’ (That’s ‘hail Trump’ in Russian)..
