The United States of America has lost its way. This was confirmed on November 8, 2016. Two days ago Trump claimed that he was “elite” because he had a nicer apartment, was richer, was smarter, and was elected while well-educated and intellectual Americans did not and were not. His ignorant supporters in Duluth, Minnesota screamed in approval.

To educate our illiterate and immoral president, here is the definition of ‘elite;’ “those people or organizations that are considered the best or most powerful compared to others of a similar type.”

Notice that the definition has no mention of wealth. If Trump truly believes that he is the ‘best’ at anything, he needs to ‘have his head examined.’ He will be remembered as the worst and least effective illegitimate president in history. The duty of every president is to unify our nation’s people under a common cause, decided by the majority of our nation’s people. Trump is serving 540 billionaires, and 10.8 million millionaires; the remainder of our people are of no concern.

Trump is the most divisive individual in our nation’s history. He has completely rejected one-half of our nation’s people. The numbers of Americans living below the poverty line, together with low-income Americans who are one paycheck away from falling into poverty, compose nearly 50 percent of all Americans. My wife and I are members of this too large group; are you and yours, or maybe someone you love?

This immigration issue should not be an issue. Our dysfunctional government should be working hard to establish a lengthy and well-defined policy covering all situations related to those who want to live in America. We are and always will be a nation of immigrants. Trump’s family immigrated from Germany; everyone of us has roots in a foreign nation.

Trump uses the word ‘immigration’ but it is actually a reference to Hispanics and his bigotry towards them. These immigrants from Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala understand what the word ‘America’ truly means better than the wealthiest one-percent of Americans.
