In 2003 a Republican government which remained in a state of panic after September 11, 2001, made two enormous mistakes. After the members of George W. Bush’s administration recovered from their failure to stop the attacks; rejecting warnings by the FBI, the CIA, and the NSA, they sought a diversion from the truth.

They decided to fabricate stories about weapons of mass destruction allegedly stored in Iraq. Then came the invasion and the beginning of a long and costly war.

This group of incompetents also panicked about our borders for no substantial reason. They created the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. We already had a competent border patrol, and with better training and more sophisticated equipment they would have been more than adequate.

Recent action by ICE proves two things; they are unnecessary and remain poorly trained. Their actions can only be described as fascist and cruel. Separating parents from small children was the policy of Nazis in 1930 and 1940’s Germany. America has disgraced itself by taking the same action.

Some Democrats in Washington, and some members of ICE believe that the agency should be dismantled. 19 agents and a handful of legislators, led by Representative Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, have petitioned Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to consider their request.

Only one question remains; will Trump give up his own private gestapo? Trump’s hatred for minorities has given him great pleasure as he watches other human beings suffer intolerable cruelty.

Time will tell, and hopefully the people will win the revolution.
