“Make America great again.” We saw this on Trump’s ridiculous hats and “MAGA” is often on his vile and embarrassing tweets. What does it really mean?
First, we have never been a “great” country. We have always been a racist country, and the fact that this is diametrically opposed to the Constitution prevents us from wearing such a label. Today a widening income inequality is removing the label of a “good country.” An 800 percent increase in hate crimes since Trump’s nomination in July of 2016 makes us a “bad country.”
So, what does Trump’s campaign slogan actually mean? The facts are there; confirmed by his words and actions it means “make America white again.”
Trump is making efforts to return our nation to the dark days of the 1950’s. He is a dirty old man who rejects the future. Trump is the poster boy for everything which was wrong in our nation’s past. He supports white supremacy, women as second-class citizens, deregulation of banks and corporations who nearly caused a depression in 2008, rule by the wealthy, and an autocratic government which would eliminate our right to vote in free and fair elections.
Trump’s White House staff, his position on vital issues, and his position on immigration are all based on racist beliefs. His supporters share his plan to destroy my America.
In recent weeks stories have been reported in local papers about white people calling the police for the single fact that a person of color was in their neighborhood. One such instance involved a young black man who was mowing someone’s lawn.
On Tuesday Janelle Bynum, a Representative from Oregon’s 51st District was campaigning in Clackamas County, only 1.5 miles from her home. While going from house to house, she was approached by the local police. A white woman in the neighborhood called police because she is an African American. This is another example of the “Trump Effect.”
When our nation is eventually relieved from Trump’s fascist rule I fear that because tens-of-millions of Americans have been exposed as racists, our nation will never again be the same. Through 44 previous administrations our nation was slowly moving forward to join the rest of the developed world in the way we respected minorities, women, the LGBTQ community, people from other nations, and religious freedom. Trump has reversed this positive trend and destroyed decades of progress. Never again will I vote for any candidate at any level of government who is over the age of sixty. With a national average of 37.8 years-of-age, old men are completely out of touch with most Americans. Add to this to the fact that Trump is mentally challenged, and our nation is in serious trouble.
