For more than two decades Democrats have taken the high road. They allowed lies from politicians on the right and their propaganda machine, FOX Noise, to force them to reject the label “liberal.” Instead of reminding the American people about the accomplishments of the greatest president who ever lived, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, they moved to the right with a single goal; not to lose elections. Trump’s destructive and anti-American presidency has encouraged a resurgence of Democratic principles and ideals.
Old and passive Democrats in Washington are in denial about the fact that younger, aggressive, and proud liberals are prepared to take control of their party. A single bright light shone in the east when 28-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated 20-year incumbent Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th district, and later won the 15th district with “write-in” votes.
Crowley was considered to be the Democrat who would replace Nancy Pelosi as either the House Minority Leader or possibly the Speaker of the House.
Although I have no doubt she saw the “writing on the wall,” Pelosi attempted to ‘play down’ Crowley’s crushing defeat. The truth is that women and younger Americans are no longer willing to accept lies from the right wing. They are moving back to the left and are proud to be liberals/progressives. Action will replace words and standing up to the bully president will become the norm. Democrats will once again represent the needs of the people; placing them ahead of winning elections. The result will be more wins by liberal candidates who will do the right thing. The cowardly hypocrites on the right will be sent home to “cry in their beer.”
In Texas, 45-year-old Beto O’Rourke is challenging Ted ‘the hypocrite’ Cruz for his seat in the Senate. In 2012 Cruz won by attacking Obamacare with every lie he could manufacture. Mr. O’Rourke is supporting Obamacare which would appear to be a negative. However, across the nation the American people support Obamacare. Improving the basics of what will become universal healthcare is a greater priority than giving tax breaks to the wealthy.
In California Dianne Feinstein is running for a fifth term in the Senate. She is 85 years old. The California Democratic Executive Committee voted on Saturday to support the progressive candidate, Kevin de Leon.
Once again, three statistics which display the need for change in our country’s government. Women dominate our nation’s population with 50.9 percent. The average age of an American today is 37.8 years of age. The average age in congress is 60. Our government represents old America, not the America of today.
Aggressive, purpose-driven liberals are the future. Old men and women like Trump, McConnell, Schumer, and Pelosi are the past. Our nation will join the rest of developed nations under the leadership of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Beto O’Rourke, Ayanna Pressley, and others who will accomplish what the old, white men and women have only talked about for decades.
Please vote on November 6th and cast your vote wisely. Your will be voting for your future or choosing to accept Trump’s efforts to return America to its dark past.
