Once Again Trump Takes Credit for President Obama’s Plans and Policies

In the second quarter of 2018 America’s economy grew by 4.1 percent; the highest since the third quarter of 2014. Of course, Trump couldn’t wait to boast about it, although this growth in the GDP has nothing to do with his policies.

“The most important thing,” Trump added, “is these [GDP numbers] are sustainable. This isn’t a one-time shot. I happen to think we’re going to do extraordinarily well in our next report…I think the numbers are going to be outstanding.” Maybe not.

Economists report that the growing American economy is the result of the economic stimulus created by the Obama administration.

Paul Ashworth, chief US economist at Capital Economics, said Friday, “Overall, helped by the massive fiscal stimulus, the economy enjoyed a strong first half of this year but, as the stimulus fades and monetary policy becomes progressively tighter, we expect GDP growth to slow markedly from mid-2019 onwards.”

Another economist predicted what the future holds for America’s businesses.

Ian Shepherdson, an economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics, said following Friday’s report, “In one line: Looks great; won’t last.”

Shepherdson added, “Looking ahead, the big stories for Q3 will be the slowdown in consumption — Q3 probably was boosted by the tax cuts, but the incremental cashflow effect is now zero — and the reversal of the Q2 inventory and trade swings.”

Trump has accomplished nothing to boost the economy. His “tax reform” bill gave relief for the middle class for a limited period of time. The cuts for the wealthy and corporations are permanent and will force an increase in the national debt and decrease our nation’s ability to fully fund every program necessary to maintain an equitable quality of life for most Americans. Not one other important piece of legislation has been proposed or even discussed. Trump’s administration and his party have virtually accomplished nothing in the last 18 months and seven days.

Trump is too busy attacking the press, making fun of his adversaries, golfing, and watching FOX Noise.

Throughout modern history it is fact that GOP politicians are incapable of governing our nation. When they are in power, the majority struggle to maintain their lifestyles. If we look at the accomplishments of the last two Democratic presidents, we discover a pattern of failure by Republicans since WWII.

Bill Clinton inherited a debt of 4.351 trillion dollars. When he left office in 2001, our nation had a surplus.

When Barrack Obama entered office in 2009, the national debt was 10.6 trillion dollars, not including the cost of two unwinnable wars. Although our national debt increased under President Obama, most of it was due to the stimulus package which placed our nation in recovery from a near depression.

The good news today about the GDP is the result of President Obama’s wise decisions aided by an intelligent and qualified administration. None of that exists in Washington today.
