John Gruden’s team won a Super Bowl in 2003. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had been assimilated by Tony Dungee; they were not Gruden’s team. He was eventually fired and went into the announcer’s booth. He was less than adequate.

In the off season, Gruden was rehired to coach the Oakland Raiders. One of his early moves was to release a linebacker who may be the best defensive player in football; Khalil Mack. The Raiders are 0-3 as of today.

The Raiders have the talent to win the AFC West, but not the coaching. Unless there is a major surprise, the Kansas City Chiefs appear to be the class of their division.

I have a single request; please don’t send Gruden back to the announcer’s booth; he was even worse there.
