Quarterbacks are no Longer Football Players: They are Protected Little Princesses

Roethlisberger

Roger Goodell and his fascist NFL Commissioner’s office are attempting to prevent quarterback sacks and making them virtually untouchable. If the rules he has instituted today existed in the 70’s or 80’s the outcome of every championship would have been altered; the officials would have decided the outcome of many critical games.

Quarterbacks are becoming the pussies of the sports world. This new rule about not “landing on the quarterback” is idiocy at its pinnacle. Not one 250-pound player can stop in full stride and say “excuse me sir, I’m not allowed to make contact with you.”

In the first three games this year Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews was called for “roughing the quarterback” on three occasions; all of which were simply bullshit.

Tonight, on Monday Night Football it happened again and again. This is not tackle football; this is powder puff football.

Player safety is vital to the future of the game but removing quarterbacks from the definition of “professional football player” is ludicrous.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, offered his opinion after last night’s game.

“There’s a lot of them,” Roethlisberger said. “I don’t want to criticize the officiating, especially when you’re talking about a penalty that helps the quarterback out. I was surprised at the first one. The second one I thought was legit. He hit me in the helmet. It was kind of like hearing that loud ring when your helmet gets hit.

“There are sure a lot of them. I can’t imagine the fans at home are enjoying it too much.”

For this fan, one of the most exciting plays in the game is sacking the quarterback. If this is eliminated, the game of professional football will suffer.
