The Kavanaugh debacle has reopened the discussion of sexual assault in America. The simple answer is to reverse more than one-hundred years of policy and immediately accept the fact that if a woman claims that she was sexually assaulted, believe her.
I know many of you are saying “well, what if she is lying?” In some cases that may be true, and a detailed investigation will likely reveal that fact. However, in most cases women are afraid to come forward and face their attackers for fear of the serious and often fallacious incriminations which may follow.
Studies prove that only one-third of all sexual assaults are reported, and only five-percent of those cases result in punishment for the offender.
One entire party in Washington believes that women are inferior to men and do not deserve equal protection under the law. These old, white, Republican politicians have moved our beloved nation into its dark past under the backwards leadership of Donald John Trump. With a sexual predator living in the White House, the GOP has taken advantage of their beliefs and once again expect women to serve men.
On the morning of November 7, 2018, they will awake to a new America. It’s time for our government to become representative of all our nation’s people. With a country that is 51 percent female, and an average age of 37.8 years of age for all Americans, McConnell, Grassley, Hatch, Graham, and the others who have failed the American people will understand that change is coming and new leaders will be moving our nation forwards. Their long practice of failing the American people is ending.
