Respect Must Be Earned: I’m Still Waiting

don

On January 20, 2017, the right wing claimed that even if millions of Americans did not like Trump, he must be given a ‘chance’ and the respect demanded by the office. I called “bullshit” then, and I am still waiting for a single act by this illegitimate president which earns my respect.

I have a personal belief that the most important word in the English language is respect. I don’t have to like everyone, nor do I have the need to be liked. However, if I do not have respect for an individual they simply do not exist in my world. From day one I swore that I would never accept Trump as my president. A man without principles or morals; a man who is a sexual predator, a white supremacist, and lacks the desire to perform the job for which he was elected will never earn respect from true Americans. A man who lies constantly cannot be trusted.

Any Senator who votes to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court will lose all respect from me and millions of other Americans who support women in the fight for equal treatment under the law. Any man or woman who does not believe that sexual assault is a crime which must be punished severely is a sexist. They are all members of Trump’s diminishing “basket of deplorables.”

320 million Americans deserve better. The election was fixed by Trump and Putin, and our nation is experiencing a constant nightmare. Trump is not an American president and therefore has not earned the respect of the American people.

Sadly, his entire party has bowed to this fascist and our nation is in peril of losing all freedom and democracy. Trump must be impeached for the good of our nation’s future, and his party must lose their lives of luxury and privilege in the House and Senate.
