Friday’s ruling by a federal judge in Texas today could murder thousands of Americans.
“U.S. District Court Judge Reed O’Connor explained his decision turned on a 2017 congressional tax bill, which eliminated a penalty for people who don’t acquire health insurance. Without the fine, the ruling says, the ACA is unconstitutional.”
I, along with millions of other progressive Americans, demand Medicare for all. Excuses by the right-wing are invalid. The United States is the only developed nation in the world which fails to offer free or low-cost healthcare for its citizens.
What pisses me off the most is that all 535 members of congress have excellent healthcare, most of which is paid for by taxpayers, but they don’t want the American people; their employers; to have life-saving medical care. It was the Republican Attorney General of Texas who brought the lawsuit to court. Republicans are the enemy. If any American votes for these a**holes, they are harming those they love.
Contrary to GOP politicians, healthcare for all is a right. If our elected officials have healthcare and the people do not, this is a direct violation of equal protection under the law; the 14th amendment.
Congress continues to vote themselves raises but refuses to pass term limits. These hypocrites make a base salary of $174,000 per year; over $93,000,000 for 535 men and women; work less than 100 hours a month and 100 days a year; and receive sufficient money from lobbyists to become millionaires. They accept the fact that 46 million Americans live in poverty. They refuse to raise the federal minimum wage with the intent of protecting the bloated profits of their owners, the one percent. And they fight hard to prevent the American people from having life-saving medical services.
Healthcare was the number one issue in the midterms and will continue to be the primary demand in 2020. If Republicans continue to fight against the right of all Americans to have medical care at little or no cost, they will lose the Senate and Democrats will retain control of the house.
