Ending Sexism in America

America’s greatest sins are racism and sexism. When we have an illegitimate president who supports both of these evils, it is a challenge to fight against the ‘powers that be.’ However, we must. They are two of the evils which prevent our nation from ever being great.

As long as groups exist who support white supremacy, and as long as they have a leader defiling the White House, racism will remain a serious blight on our nation. Pure ignorance is the only reason bigotry and prejudice exist in America and when these men and women refuse to be educated, nothing will change.

Since the inception of the United States in 1776 women have been considered second-class citizens. For millions of men this continues to be a serious problem in our nation. Sexism is nurtured by men who ensure that women appear different from men and their physicality is on display. I have one, minor solution.

I was in the United States Air Force. I worked in the casinos in Northern Nevada. I attended Catholic school for 10 years in my youth. What’s my point? It’s simple. In each of these situations women are intentionally placed in positions which are intended to display their physical differences from men.

Why are dress uniforms in the military different for men and women? Why are women forced to wear skirts and feminine shoes, different headwear, and tighter fitting tops than men? Why don’t they wear the same uniforms in all situations? There is no logical reason for the difference.

I worked in casinos for 20 years. Why are cocktail waitresses forced to wear uniforms accentuating their breasts, legs, and buttocks? Their purpose is to serve beverages to individuals gambling on slot machines or table games. Why aren’t they allowed to wear the same uniforms as dealers and other employees?

In Catholic school boys wore slacks and shirts with practical shoes. The girls were required to wear skirts and blouses with ‘saddle shoes;’ why?

My point is simple. Until men and women are treated and displayed equally in every situation sexism will continue to be a serious problem.

Don’t judge me. I am a normal heterosexual man. I love to see a woman who is proud of her sexuality. But it should be her choice and not a requirement by an employer, a school, or a branch of the military.

Just a thought.
