Immediately after the House was returned to Democrats and Independents our government ended years of stagnation by failed Republicans also known as the “party of no.” A group of young, progressive Democratic and Independent Representatives have proposed measures which would return democracy to Washington and end the dysfunction which exists today. They are addressing issues ignored by the Trump administration because they don’t include a “wall.”
Ideas including green energy, improving healthcare, affordable education, and income inequality have already been suggested by this group of true patriots.
Their most recent proposal is called “For the People Act.” It is an effort to protect and preserve voting rights for all Americans and reduce the power of big money to control our elections. Of course, the right-wing is going bonkers. Without the one-percent in their corner, Republicans would never win another election at any level. The bill’s purpose is to “expand American’s access to the ballot box, reduce the influence of big money in politics, and strengthen ethics rules for public servants.” In a desperate attempt to save their failing party, right-wing politicians claim the opposite is true. This is what they say, and it is a convoluted message of ridiculous falsehoods and misrepresentation.
“In reality, the bill represents an extraordinary federal power grab. At every turn, it grants federal regulators more power. Time and again, it renders federal election law more complex — creating a chilling effect on political communication through sheer uncertainty and confusion.”
First, this is the opposite of a “federal power grab.” It is focused on ending voter suppression at all levels. Its intent is more devoted to red states and state laws which are attempting to prevent minorities their Constitutional right to vote. “The south has risen again,” and with it Arizona, Texas, and Indiana, are very afraid of the people; the majority who are no longer “pure white.”
Two facts scare the living s**t out of the ultra-white right wing. Our nation is becoming more diverse every day at a rate never imagined 50 years ago. Second, millennials are now America’s largest voting bloc. This group is inclined to be far less racist; believe that the LGBTQ community must have their rights respected by all Americans; recognize the fact that women are equal to men in every situation; and for the most part reject organized religion. When they do join a religion, they are far more likely to choose the religion of Islam.
Our founding fathers considered the first amendment of the Bill of Rights the most important declaration in history. It contains our most important rights, and a promise to protect our freedoms. The right to vote makes our nation unique, and it is guaranteed to all Americans regardless of race, creed, sex, or sexual orientation. Republicans hate these facts.
One final fact. A larger voter turnout favors Democrats 99 times out of 100. Think about it. If the Electoral College did not choose our president and the choice of the majority of Americans was given the presidency, a Democrat would have been living in the White House since 1993.
