I hope that you will pay close attention to this article. I am very happy that other writers are now saying what I have been saying long before the 2016 election. Trump is a disaster, but he is not alone. For more than 30 years the Republican Party has been devolving. As it began to move further to the right it lost its principles and forgot the history of the once Grand Old Party. The “Party of Lincoln” is but a distant memory. Originally a party concerned with individual freedoms, state’s rights, and fiscal responsibility, it morphed into the party of the rich. Republican politicians refuse to represent the people and place their personal ambitions ahead of America’s people.
Republican voters elected incompetent men and women who obeyed party leaders instead of doing the right thing. Newt Gingrich, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, and dozens of others proved over and over again that they were incapable of governing a nation of 320 million people; and they don’t want to. They’re owned by the one-percent.
Over time Republicans have become the enemy of the working class. Anyone who wasn’t paying close attention to the changes in the GOP are now aware of their many failures. Bowing to Trump and refusing to stand-up for the people exposed their loyalties to their party and lobbies, and their failure to represent the needs and wishes of the American people. “Profit before People” has become their mantra.
Republicans have discarded their support for democracy. They are now the most expensive party in America’s history. Fiscal responsibility is no longer a concern. They have allowed Trump to throw away tens-of-millions of taxpayer dollars in just over two years. His “tax reform” has proven to be a gift to 540 billionaires and 11.1 million millionaires, and a burden for the working class. Corporations are experiencing increased profits while their tax breaks have resulted in the addition of one-trillion dollars to the national debt. That’s right; trillion with a “T.”
Today’s group of “Republicans in name only” are without talent. They are followers and hypocrites. We must not forget that the vast majority of Republicans opposed Trump prior to his illegitimate election. Now they praise him, although they are fully aware that his every proposal, his every action is in opposition to the ideals and beliefs of our founding fathers and the Constitution. They allow him to play at his millionaires only properties and watch television while our nation’s democracy crumbles. Capitalism has failed the American people, and Republicans simply “don’t give a damn.” Their party and their own futures are the priority.
We are watching closely as first-time, energetic Democratic members of the House offer proposals which will positively affect all Americans. Now, more than ever it is time to remove the old, white men who are leading the GOP and our nation backwards.
Republicans do not deserve our votes. They refuse to perform the jobs for which they were elected. They have chosen to rule over us and refuse to serve the American people.
On November 3, 2020 real Americans can take their country back. Eliminate the enemy from Washington and our nation will begin to heal. With real leadership most of the evil Trump and his circle of sinners forced upon our nation can be reversed. We can move bravely into the 21st century where the most diverse nation in the world will eventually achieve the goals of the men who signed the Constitution in 1789.
