Alabama’s recent escalation of its war on women is unacceptable. It virtually bans all abortions in the reddest state in the union, including in the case of rape or incest. For white men in red states women are third-class citizens. First are white men, second are all fetuses, and then white women.
Here are some statements from Republican politicians and why all of them must be retired in 2020.“If a woman has (the right to an abortion), why shouldn’t a man be free to use his superior strength to force himself on a woman? At least the rapist’s pursuit of sexual freedom doesn’t (in most cases) result in anyone’s death.” Lawrence Lockman, Maine
“If you want an abortion, don’t ask me to pay for it. That’s not something I’m gonna agree with. That’s a gift from God. There are no exceptions with that. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to pray for you…. That’s a life, regardless of how it got there, and I’m going to pray for you.” Darryl Glenn, Colorado
“I believe life begins at conception. The only exception I have for to have an abortion is in the case of the life of the mother. I struggled with myself for a long time but I came to realize life is that gift from God, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape. It is something that God intended to happen.” Richard Mourdock, Indiana’
Legalize rape? The life of an organism more important than the life of the woman? These white men definitely do not deserve to hold political office, and should be rejected by every woman on the planet. A woman’s rights must be protected by law. Serving the Christian religious right and denying the Constitutional rights if women is a direct violation of the first amendment.
On January 21, 2017, women began to bond together as never before. We should all join them and do the right thing; throw Trump and his hypocritical party out of office. They continue to represent only one percent of the American people as they escalate their wars on minorities and women.
