Ordering Barr not to testify before Congress; obstruction of justice. Telling Don McGahn not to honor a subpoena and attend Congressional hearings; obstruction of justice. Refusing to allow Congress to read an uncensored version of the Mueller report; obstruction of justice. Trump refusing to release his tax returns to Congress; obstruction of justice.
In Mueller’s report there are 11 instances which are obstruction of justice. Trump is forcing Democrats in the House to initiate the impeachment process.
Congress has not only the power but also the responsibility to conduct oversight of the executive branch. This stipulation was created by our founding fathers to guarantee that the United States would never have a monarch. When a president, vice president, or any other high-ranking member of the executive branch is accused of moral or ethical misconduct, the FBI must begin investigations, and Congress is required to conduct its own investigation and force witnesses to appear before its committees. Trump obviously believes that he is above the law, but not in America.
“We are now at the point where we must begin an impeachment inquiry. I don’t say that lightly,” Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington, a member of the Judiciary Committee, tweeted early Tuesday morning. “We’ve taken every step we can w/subpoenas and witnesses. Trump obstructs everything. A president who thinks he’s king, accountable to nobody & ,above the law is absolutely unacceptable.”
Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, has been reluctant to begin the impeachment process; instead focusing on issues including healthcare and voting rights. However, her constituents are more adamant with every day that Trump cannot get away with acting like an autocrat.
Trump continues to be the schoolyard bully. He has no qualifications to hold the position of President of the United States. It was a crime against America when millions of ignorant voters allowed Trump to win the Electoral College on November 8, 2016. Real Americans are suffering from the effects of that day and it must end.
