Trump constantly attacks the legitimate media, while praising the right-wing propaganda machine, Fox Noise. The truth is that the mainstream media has given Trump a free pass; holding him to the lowest standard in history for four years. They have always supported a Trump presidency.
During the 2016 campaign the media gave Trump five-times more coverage than all other candidates combined. Sensationalism sells advertising. Hillary Clinton, the first female presidential candidate from a major party in American history, was held to an impossibly high standard. Most of her media coverage occurred when she made a minor mistake or when she had a minor illness.
Trump holds hate rallies about twice a month. There is no purpose for them other than to soothe Trump’s fragile ego. The media continues to cover them; why?
The media continues to use words such as “different,” or “unusual” to describe Trump, when the proper word would be “liar,” or even “fraud.”
Why does the media not tell the truth? The most profitable programming on network and cable television is the time given to “news” broadcasters. They may be fake journalists, and omit the complete truth, especially about politics, but they sell advertising. In America, it’s always “follow the money.”
Broadcast television began its popularity shortly after I was born in 1946. The first news broadcast occurred in 1944. It was a 15-minute program on CBS. In 1945, NBC followed their lead. The news developed slowly. It was difficult to find sponsors for what was considered a dry one-half-hour show. I can honestly say that I heard more news; received more information; in the one-half hour shows in the 1950’s than I receive today.
Journalists who appeared on television, Including Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow, Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, and others, would not be considered “highly paid.” The entertainment personalities who appear on popular morning “entertainment broadcasts, including “Good Morning America,” “The Today Show,” and “CBS This Morning” are all millionaires. The same is true for the men and women who sit before the cameras on the evening news broadcasts. They are not paid for their journalistic expertise; they appeal to several demographics. Advertisers are eager to buy time on these broadcasts.
This is why you will not be hearing about the events happening around the world this week. While American newsmen and women were busy discussing Trump’s childish attacks on Nancy Pelosi and promoting a fake video which pretended to depict the Speaker as mentally deficient, hundreds of thousands of children around the world walked out of their classrooms on Friday.
“Hundreds of thousands of students around the world walked out of their schools and colleges Friday in the latest in a series of strikes urging action to address the climate crisis. According to event organizers Fridays for Future, over 1664 cities across 125 countries registered strike actions, with more expected to report turnouts in the coming days.”
Don’t expect to hear about this, or see film of the actions of the young men and women who are the future on ABC, CBS, or NBC.
The greatest threat to the world is climate change caused by man. Although Republicans and their illegitimate president deny this fact, It is the truth. Their support for the biggest polluters in the world, America’s big businesses, is harming the future of your children and grandchildren. Once again, profit before people.
The American people are the least informed of all developed nations and also several third world countries. We deserve better, but our mainstream media continues to fail us.
I ceased watching television news on November 9, 2016. I was tired of lies and incomplete information. I will never waste my time again.
Tell everyone; “The Truth Lives Here.”
