Nevada’s Governor, Steve Sisolak, Will Never Receive my Vote Again

I believe that our founding fathers were correct; the people should elect the President of the United States. I believe that the Electoral College violates the spirit of the Constitution.
The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact bill has now passed a total of 40 state legislative chambers in 24 states. It has also passed at least one legislative chamber in 9 states possessing 82 electoral votes. This bill would guarantee that the winner of the national popular vote would receive each state’s electoral votes.
I live in Nevada. Today our Democratic Governor, Steve Sisolak, vetoed a bill passed by the state legislature and approved by the majority of voters. He will never receive my vote again. He is refusing to act on the will of the people.
Read the lie Sisolak offered for his veto.
“After thoughtful deliberation, I have decided to veto Assembly Bill 186,” Sisolak said in a statement.
“Once effective, the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact could diminish the role of smaller states like Nevada in national electoral contests and force Nevada’s electors to side with whoever wins the nationwide popular vote, rather than the candidate Nevadans choose.”
Mr. Sisolak, this issue is not about state’s rights. This is about electing the president. The people should elect the president not a small group of men and women. Claiming that smaller states would have less of a voice is misleading. States should not be involved in a presidential election. Only the people should have the right to choose America’s leader.
Mr. Sisolak, you must not be a student of history. Because of the Electoral College, my vote did not count in 2000 and 2004. In 2016 supporters of Trump who live in Nevada had their votes discarded. In all three elections thousands of Nevadans wasted their time going to the polls.
Do the right thing or resign. The will of the people must supersede your personal opinion.
Tell everyone; “The Truth Lives Here.”
