How, when, and why did this happen? When did the once Grand Old Party disappear? If anyone who has average intelligence, and has been around for as long as I have, can claim that the right-wing has any resemblance to the party I respected more than 30 years ago they are lying. This Republican Party in name only is void of morals and principles.
During the George H.W. Bush reelection campaign in 1992, his campaign staff waged a campaign based on character assassination. Desperate to revive his credibility when he was forced to raise taxes after stating; “read my lips, no new taxes;” his staff resorted to desperate efforts to win reelection.
This policy of attack politics began during the Bush campaign in 1988, but escalated in 1992. Issues were no longer the focus of the right wing.
This was the end of the Grand Old Party and the beginning of a party which lost its principles and morals. By 2000 they decided to ignore the issues completely, and create campaigns based entirely on attempts to discredit their opponents.
Everyone knows the history of George W. Bush, and the debacle that is Donald Trump today.
Trump has found a new low. He continues to attack the last Republican, John McCain, although he can no longer defend himself.
Senator McCain is best remembered for having the courage to reject Trump and Mitch McConnell’s efforts to destroy healthcare in America. It was his vote that sent Trump into a rage about what remains his greatest defeat in his illegitimate presidency. Thus began a vendetta against the last Republican.
Recently we learned that Senator McCain’s lack of respect and disdain for the worst president in history began during Trump’s pitiful inauguration. While sitting behind Trump as he made the worst speech in the history of presidential inaugurations, Mr. McCain began to recite the names of dictators throughout history.
Earlier this week when Trump was in Japan, the man with a fragile ego and extremely low intellect, proved to the world that he is a man-child and incapable of leading our nation.
In the harbor was the USS John McCain. Trump threw another temper tantrum and ordered the fleet commander to remove the vessel. This, of course, was impossible. Instead, seamen were ordered to cover all insignia with tarps.
This is your president; he will never be mine.
The destruction of the greatly respected Grand Old Party began over 30 years ago, and Trump competed the change. Not a single Republican in name only is worthy of our votes. With the invasion of the TEA Party, and then the Freedom Caucus, the end of the Party of Lincoln was complete. Not only have they dismissed the principles of Lincoln, they have chosen to forget the accomplishments of Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, and the first term of Ronald Reagan. They have become the Trump Party and are a disgrace to the offices they now hold. They have become the enemy of the American people.
We can vote them out of office on November 3, 2020.
