Speaker Nancy Pelosi adds proof to my claim that our elected officials in Washington are far too old to represent America in the 21st century. She has served her purpose but she, like Trump, McConnell, and many others in our nation’s government, cannot relate to today’s young and diverse nation.
Budget discussions are currently being conducted in the House. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass. opposed the House’s approval because it gives more money to ICE and Border Patrol who are abusing detainees on our southern border.
“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world,” Pelosi said. “But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got.”
Like most other old men and women in Washington, they ignore one fact; the only votes which count are counted at our nation’s polling places every two years. Then, if those we elect refuse to pay attention to the people who elected them, they will be serving their final term in office.
For decades congress has chosen to vote on issues important to them and to special interests; ignoring the polls which reveal the needs and wishes of the majority. Time for change.
Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, Tlaib, and Pressley represent most Americans. They are progressive, intelligent, and are examples of the growing diversity in America; and they are women who have chosen to take what is rightfully theirs in the 21st century.
Too much inaction has become the norm in our nation’s capital. Fear of losing elections is the reason nothing gets done. One current issue proves my point.
Trump must be impeached. He has committed ethics violations, obstruction of justice, violations against Constitutional law, and there is a preponderance of circumstantial evidence that he colluded with Vladimir Putin to win the Electoral College in 2016.
Pelosi’s claim is that impeaching Trump would harm Democrats in the 2020 election and the Senate would never try Trump for his crimes because of Mitch “the traitor” McConnell.
She is right about the latter, but that is not the important issue. When Trump is impeached, additional evidence; evidence Trump can no longer hide; will come forward. He is the wort thing to happen to our nation in 243 years and he must be exposed.
If not impeachment, voters must go to the polls in record numbers on November 3, 2020 and remove every Republican possible from office. This will save America.
