Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of the House. Chuck Schumer is the Senate Minority Leader. Neither of these veteran legislators is the leader of the Democratic Party in the 21st century. The reasons are obvious to millions of voters, but not clear Pelosi and Schumer; at least not yet.
First, a couple of facts which continue to be ignored by the “experts” but are important facts which will decide the results of the 2020 election.
Millions of women have become active in government. In 2018 more women were elected to local, state, and federal governments than ever before. Women organized to increase voter registration. Today more women are enrolled in our colleges and universities than men. An increasing number of women are waiting longer to get married, or choosing not to have a traditional family. Careers have taken precedence over relationships. They are taking rights which belong to them; no longer waiting for the men in congress to do the right thing.
The largest voting bloc in our nation now belongs to millennials. Baby boomers are literally dying off, leaving the nation to younger Americans. With an average age of 37.8 years of age, our nation is younger and more diverse than ever before. Millennials alone can control all future elections. This is why New York Representative, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is the leader of today’s Democratic Party. One issue proves that this is an irrefutable fact; she is constantly under attack from Fox Noise and the entire right-wing. She literally ‘scares the hell out of them.’
For me, there is no doubt that if she was 35 years old, she could be elected as our 46th president in 2020. Her popularity is based on her support of issues most important to the American people, her honesty, and her intelligence.
She admits to being a “democratic socialist;” a progressive who is fighting for increased efforts to fight climate change, the need for Medicare for all, and free higher education. She has offered facts that income inequality is growing, and continues to aid women in their struggle for equality against the right wing. Unlike many of the old, white men in Washington, she is an American.
AOC and other young legislators are participating in a battle with Speaker Pelosi.
I have respect for Ms. Pelosi, but she is the past. She is often wrong in her beliefs because she is not listening to younger Americans and the leaders they have chosen.
She is also wrong about impeaching Donald Trump. She is against taking this action; believing it could harm Democrats in the 2020 election. She is mistaken. Doing the right thing was once America’s primary belief. Trump is a criminal and a traitor to the American people. Although Mitch McConnell will never allow a trial in the Senate, the impeachment process in the House would force Trump to reveal the truth about himself. He must be evicted from the White House. Donald John Trump is not an American president. He serves his masters; Vladimir Putin, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman; not the people of the United States of America.
