The Biggest Republican Lie of them All

“Raising the minimum wage will cost jobs.” This is the Republican lie; the lie of all lies. Every economist who studied this claim by the employees of big business, report the fact that this is a blatant falsehood.

Millions of Americans work two and even three minimum wage jobs to support their families. No one can live in America with a wage of $7.25 an hour.

According to the Daily Kos, a recent study by Dube and Zipperer, along with Dorok Cengiz and Attila Lindner, “evaluated the local effect of more than 130 minimum-wage increases since 1979 and showed the fall in jobs paying less than the new minimum wage had been fully offset by the jump in new jobs paying just over it.” One hundred and thirty over 40 years. That’s a lot of data. It’s especially a lot of data for the CBO to be more or less ignoring.

Facts prove that increasing the minimum wage positively affects the economy. When Americans have more money to spend, small businesses experience an increase in their profits. Everyone benefits from your local beauty shop to the large chain stores.

Most importantly, it’s the right thing to do. A nation which has 607 billionaires, 11.8 million millionaires, with only four percent of the world’s population, can afford to pay its working class $15 per hour.

Call your Republican congressmen and women and tell them to stop lying to the American people and comply with our demands. They must stop bullshitting the working class.
