President Donald Trump tweeted Sunday morning asking the “‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen” to “go back” to their “corrupt” and “broken and crime infested” countries.
Democrats and Republicans have a common enemy; the freshman Representatives in the House who are fighting for the needs and wishes of most Americans. Ilhan Omar, Rashid Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Ayanna Pressley are leading the fight for the American majority. Like us, they are tired of waiting for congress to serve the many and ignore special interests.
The truth is that these young women represent America’s diverse and youthful population and are scaring the hell out of the old guard in Washington; the old, white men and women who have harmed the American people for far too many years.
The 2018 midterms should have frightened many of our legislators who have been in office for far too long. There is no honor in the House or Senate for occupying a seat in our Capitol for 20, 30, or more years. They should be ashamed. They do nothing for the average American; they work for themselves. Term limits must be forced on these failures to America.
If you are over 60 years of age, you are too old to represent a nation whose average age is 37.8 years old. If you are pure white, you do not understand the needs of a nation whose growing diversity is being ignored. If you are a man, you have likely been ignoring women’s rights for decades.
As for Trump’s remark about these young women, he has once again proven that he is the leader of all racist movements in America and unfit to be the president of this nation.
Trump does not see these young women as perfect examples of America in the 21st century; he sees them as unworthy of his respect as not only citizens of this country, but as members of the legislative branch of our government.
Trump is three weeks older than this writer. We are the past. Fortunately, I do not think like the orange man. I embrace the changes in my beloved country. I truly believe that America has thrived because of its diversity. Trump has constantly attempted to take our nation back to its dark ages; he fears the future, and he should. He is everything which prevents America from becoming a great nation; the nation our founding fathers began 243 years ago.
Trump cannot halt change; progressive change. Every day our nation is more diverse. Marriage between races and cultures is creating a more beautiful and more evolved nation. The LGBTQ community is making us a kinder and more gentle country. Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, and other religions have brought new ideas and real Americans have learned tolerance, and have become understanding for the beliefs of those who choose religions other than Christianity or no religion at all.
Trump will be gone; the sooner the better. The ignorance of his supporters on November 8, 2016 gave us the least qualified man in history who cannot be called an American.
