After last night’s hate rally no one can deny that the Republican Party supports racism. Trump wasted millions of taxpayer dollars traveling to North Carolina to continue his racist attacks.
Trump continues to attack Representative Ilhan Omar and her progressive allies in the House; Ayanna Pressley, Rashid Tlaib, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. During the evening his cult members began a chant of“send her back,” referring to the freshman Congresswoman.
Today Democrats and a few Republicans are denouncing the racist chant. I don’t believe the right-wing politicians. They are concerned about the 2020 election, but racism has been the Republican standard for decades. Their beliefs are represented by their actions. They vote against every issue which would benefit minorities and women. Republicans are the party which opposes an increase in the federal minimum wage which would change the lives of millions of minorities. It is Republicans who fight against universal healthcare. Low-income Americans would benefit the most and that includes millions of African Americans and Hispanics.
Trump is the leader of the Republican Party, and they have approved of his un-American actions for nearly two-and-one-half years. You cannot pretend to support minorities when you accept the policies of the leader of white supremacy in America. Today’s Republican Party in name only could not exist if they were truthful. Lies are the basis for every right-wing proposal. When they are elected, they ignore the promises they made and serve special interests and their party.
Time for change in Washington. The people of the United States need and deserve younger, more progressive men and many more women who will undo much of the damage caused by Trump and his circle of sinners.
Progressive change will offer our nation it’s first opportunity to become a great country.
