In the Deep South it is perfectly acceptable to be openly racist. The proof is offered by Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi. Prior to the 2018 election she made multiple racist statements and still won a seat in the Senate.

Her latest crime against America involves election security.

In 2016 Vladimir Putin helped Trump win the Electoral College. Yesterday during congressional hearings, the principle character in those investigations was Special Council Robert Mueller. During the nearly six-hour event Mr. Mueller informed members of the House that Russia is continuing its efforts to influence the results of our elections.

Today in the senate three senators requested unanimous approval of a package which among other security efforts would require states to report any and all suspected efforts by a foreign nation to intervene in our election, and to secure electronic devices used by our elected officials and their staff members.

Hyde-White was the only senator to oppose the package. Is this an effort to repay Trump for his support in the 2018 election? On Wednesday evening she released a tweet echoing Trump’s lie without explaining her dissenting vote.

“The House hearings rehashed what we already knew,” she wrote. “There was no collusion. Let’s move forward to fight Russian meddling, get past the partisan wild goose chases and work on issues that matter to everyday Americans.”

The following was Mr. Mueller’s exact statement.

“Over the course of my career, I’ve seen a number of challenges to our democracy,” Mueller said in his opening remarks. “The Russian government’s effort to interfere in our election is among the most serious. As I said on May 29, this deserves the attention of every American.”

“They’re doing it as we sit here,” Mueller later told lawmakers of Russian interference.

Why aren’t Republicans taking this more seriously? Why has Mitch McConnell ignored requests from several states to release additional funds to aid in their efforts to secure future elections? Is it plausible that they want intervention by outside sources to secure Trump’s reelection?

You may be tired of me repeating this fact, but the truth is undeniable; Republicans are the enemies of the American people. They surrendered their duties to Trump on January 20, 2017. They work for him, not for us.
