Endless lies from the NRA and the right-wing have brainwashed millions of Americans. A few facts they dispute and don’t want you to know.
There are more mass shootings, (three or more individuals harmed in a single incident,) than days on the calendar. More than 33,000 men, women, and children are harmed or killed by gun use every year in America. Domestic, white, terrorism is a greater danger to innocent people than foreign terrorism. More than 200 small children harm themselves or someone else after finding a loaded gun in their homes or in the homes of relatives and close friends. No other nation in the world can post these same statistics.
When the NRA or Republican politicians scream “second amendment rights,” they are simply saying the gun manufacturers and gun stores have a right to make money at the expense of human life. No one wants to take guns away, we simply want sensible gun laws.
One more statistic which should not surprise anyone. States which have the most guns also have the most domestic violence deaths from the use of a gun.
Domestic violence is a very serious problem which is virtually ignored by our government and the justice system. Since the end of WWII, it has grown every year. If you read one of the sources I attach to this article you will be shocked about the facts. The majority of these statistics can only be estimated because most domestic violence incidents go unreported. Although the majority of cases involve a dominant and aggressive male, women can be perpetrators as well.
Anger and hatred result all too often in violence. If guns are readily available those guns all too frequently cause the death or deaths of women and children. It’s time to become serious about this issue and shun the NRA and the right-wing politicians they own.
To paraphrase an old, tired NRA slogan; “guns don’t kill people, people with guns kill people.”
