I do not enjoy defending Bill Maher. Formerly a fan, his arrogance and a self-righteous attitude are out of step with my personal beliefs and approach to exposing right-wing politicians and their propaganda machine, Fox Noise.
Billionaire David Koch died last week. He is one-half of the infamous ‘Koch brothers’ who are responsible for two thing which have greatly harmed America, our voting process, and democracy in general. It was the Koch brothers who were instrumental in creating the right-wing extremist “TEA Party.” It was the Koch brothers who funded the fight to protect “Citizens United,” which was upheld by a right-wing dominated Supreme Court. The basic fundamental of Citizens United is that money and people have equal rights in the election process. The Court affirmed the right of corporations, big businesses, and the one percent of wealthiest Americans to literally “buy elections.”
Therefore, I support Mr. Maher when he said the “he was glad David Koch was dead.” However, Trump’s biggest “a** kisser, Sean Hannity, of the infamous Fox Noise fake news broadcasts, didn’t quite see it that way. In fact, he was profane in his responses.
“You’re a (expletive). You’re a mean-spirited (expletive),” Hannity said in a clip from his show, directly addressing Maher. “I have other words I really want to use, but unlike you, I work at a network that has some standards and if I said it, I’d have to spend all day tomorrow and the next day dealing with that crap.”
He added: “The guy you’re talking about and his wife donated $1.3 billion to charity. Until you do that, just keep your big mouth shut.”
Yes, that’s correct, Hannity had the unmitigated gall to lie and claim that he “works at a network that has some standards.” Unless you are a Republican, the more extreme the better, Fox’ fake journalists have nasty, vile, and fallacious comments about all real Americans. The “standards” of Hannity and Fox Noise are ‘any lie is the truth if we tell it,’ and if it benefits the right wing, ‘all liberals are bad,’ and ‘everyone with money is truthful and deserves their lives of luxury and privilege at the expense of the majority.
Other remarks by Maher were more biting and revealed the feelings of others like myself who are true patriots; rejecting the actions of greedy men like the Koch brothers.
“He was 79, but his family says they wish it could be longer but at least he lived long enough to see the Amazon catch fire,” Maher joked. “Condolences poured in from all the politicians he owned, and mourners are being asked in lieu of flowers, to just leave their car engine running.”
Tell everyone, “the truth lives here.”
