Don’t expect the media, especially television “news” to tell you the truth. They continue to offer lies of omission every day.

Mainstream television media is protecting Trump and his failed party, along with one of the owners of that party; the NRA gun lobby.

I was reading the attached article and realized how careful the author of that article was to omit a part of the facts.

“As of Aug. 5, which was the 217th day of the year, there have been 255 mass shootings in the U.S.,” according to data from the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive (GVA)”

You must be asking, “How many people must die in a shooting before it’s termed a ‘mass shooting’? Four people? Two? None at all?”

One strict definition used in the past by the federal government says at least four victims must be killed. Much broader criteria requires at least four victims be injured, though not necessarily killed. Other definitions land somewhere in the middle.

The truth is that the latter is used to report gun violence in America, and for the last three years mass shootings have exceeded the number of days on the calendar.

Why is the media only reporting the “sensational variety” of mass shootings in America? The NRA gun lobby has hundreds of millions of dollars; given to them by gun manufacturers and gun sellers to protect and increase their billion dollar profits. Thy don’t pay for ads directly on television news, but they sponsor others. Allegedly, they are paying for silence from these fake journalists.

No nation in the world, other than the United States of America, has a gun problem similar to our county. One of our two major political parties has ignored the facts for far too long; all for money. Republicans do not care about America or the American people. They serve themselves.

Any other developed country in the world would have taken action years ago to reduce or end mass shootings in our country. In New Zealand, after two mass shootings by one individual who used military assault rifles, these weapons of mass destruction were banned, along with the high-output magazines they use.

One final note; if we use the statistics in Daniel Politi’s article, yesterday’s shootings in Odessa, Texas, brings the number of “memorable” mass shootings to 25; more than the entire year of 2018. Unacceptable, and unforgivable. Our government continues to fail its people. This is a serious problem with an easy and logical solution. GOP politicians are cowards, and do not deserve their lives of luxury and privilege.

Tell everyone, “the truth lives here.”
