In the month of August, 30 men and women have died and dozens more were injured in El Paso and Odessa by two lone gunmen. Domestic terrorism, committed mostly by right-wing extremists, is the greatest threat to the American people in the 21st century. But Texas lawmakers are not concerned; they serve the NRA gun lobby, and not the people of their state.
Nine new laws went into effect today in the most ignorant state in the union. “The newly-imposed legislation gives Texans more opportunities to have firearms and store ammunition in public places and loosens restrictions on the places guns are permitted, including in churches, public schools and foster homes.”
Our nation is the craziest, most f**ked up country in the world. The entire Republican Party is more concerned about supporting the NRA gun lobby, whose only purpose is to protect the profits of gun sellers and gun manufacturers, than protecting the people of the United States of America.
Trump has divided our nation to a degree not seen since the Civil War. He has created a nation which is mostly composed of compassionate and caring men and women. However, his supporters are composed of men and women who express anger, hatred, and an inclination for violence.
Hate crimes have risen by more than 800 percent. The frequency of mass shootings has risen since Trump’s illegitimate election in 2016. The United States has become the most violent nation in the free world.
Every good and bad situation begins at the top. Trump preaches anger, hatred and violence at every disgusting rally. The condition of our nation is directly attributable to the despicable man who is defiling our White House.
The Republican dominated government of Texas is not changing. Senators Cornyn and Cruz receive more contributions to their campaigns than most politicians from the NRA. But the people of Texas are changing. The 2018 midterms saw a Democrat, Beto O’Rourke, nearly defeat Cruz.
Could Texas turn “blue?” I truly hate the term “red” and “blue” states. I would like to see a return to the “United States.” The terminology began in 1964, and it is disgusting. If the Electoral College did not exist, the defining of our states by leaning towards the left or right would not exist.
Texas continues in a battle with Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi as the most backwards states in America. How any patriotic and forward thinking American could live in those states, I do not understand. But there is hope.
America is becoming more diverse every year. Soon the all-white population in “red” states will become the minority. Elections in Alabama, Georgia, and Texas are indicators that the Republican hold on the south, Arizona, Texas, Indiana, and Ohio is nearing an end.
America will be reborn as a diverse and forward thinking nation in just a few years. Minorities will become the majority.
The LGBTQ community will no longer be ostracized. Atheists, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, and other religions will be the norm as Christians experience a reduction in their numbers. Women will not only take the equality they have always deserved, they will become a force in leading our nation into greatness.
Tell everyone; “the truth lives here.”
