The average age of all 320 million Americans is 37.8 years. The largest voting bloc is between the ages of 18-34; we call them ‘millennials.’ Women compose nearly 52 percent of the population. The people running our government are mostly male and the average age is 60. What’s wrong with this picture?
Politically, the United States remains in the 20th century. Planning for war, protecting the profits of the wealthy and corporations, and watching the stock market are the priorities. While the rest of the developed world is moving forward and placing people in priority number one, the 73-year-old man defiling the White House is leading us backwards with the assistance of the worst Senate Majority Leader in history, 77-year-old Moscow Mitch McConnell.
The 2018 midterm elections revealed two facts; the American people want younger representatives in Washington, and many more women. The old guard in the Democratic Party, and the entire backwards thinking Republican Party is very afraid of the strong, young women who won seats in the House. Their progressive ideas receive enormous criticism from the old, white men who are afraid of change. They must be replaced with forward thinking leaders. Time to leave the past behind where it belongs.
Trump’s failed presidency is proof that a man in his 70’s is incapable of governing a young nation. Trump is regressive. His only god is money; people are of no importance to him.
Everyone talks about change; but America needs real change. New ideas which will positively affect all 320 million Americans will offer a quality of life enjoyed by everyone. For the working class the quality of life has been in decline for more than 30 years. Electing women and men who are younger and understand American people in the 21st century will begin to reverse the damage caused by the last four Republicans who lived in the White House.
It’s all up to you. Your vote will allow our legislators to create the changes which will serve the majority and force special interests to “take care of their own businesses.” What is now a government which places profit before people can be changed to a nation which places people first.
