Between 2009 and 2017 America regained its respect from the world. Under the leadership of a dignified and intelligent president, Barrack Obama, our nation began to recover from a near depression. I was a proud American. Not only had the American people elected our first Black president, they chose a great man who loved all Americans and placed their welfare above his own.
On November 20, 2017 America began to change. The very tone of Donald Trump’s inauguration speech signaled that there was trouble ahead. This unqualified and immoral man could be worse than we feared. Sadly, we were right.
When Trump called for extreme nationalism, I was a little frightened. This is the 21st century and no nation can exist without close allies. Isolating our country would result in a weaker nation.
Although Trump revealed himself as a racist during the campaign, we believed that the Republican controlled congress would prevent him from returning our nation to its dark and bigoted past. We were wrong again. Lyin Paul Ryan and Moscow Mitch McConnell immediately surrendered to the wannabe fuhrer as white supremacists celebrated.
Although Trump bragged constantly about accomplishments which actually belonged to President Obama, he did nothing to grow a recovering economy. What he did do is implement policies and enact legislation which were foolhardy and destructive. His gifts to the wealthy and corporations he called “tax reform,” is adding trillions of dollars to the deficit.
His unilateral choice to place tariffs on imports resulted in a trade war with China. Leading economists are forecasting another recession under another Republican president.
Trump alienated our allies and praised leaders of nations who are ‘unfriendly’ towards the United States. The people of the European Union hate our illegitimate president and no longer trust America. Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-un, and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman are Trump’s close friends. Trump and his party lowered America’s standing in the world.
Trump continues to preach fear, hatred, and violence at his revolting rallies. He’s succeeded in controlling the members of his cult. Hate crimes are up by 800 percent. There have been more mass shootings than days on the calendar for the last three years. A mass shooting is defined as four or more individuals wounded or killed during a single incident. Under Trump’s watch America experienced three of the most horrific and the largest mass shooting in American history in Las Vegas, Sutherland Springs, Texas, and Parkland, Florida. The Republican Party offered “thoughts and prayers,” but remain loyal to the NRA gun lobby and refuse to take any action to reduce or halt domestic terrorism.
The greatest harm Trump is responsible for is the division of our nation’s people. With this illegitimate president there are no shades of gray. Americans either support Trump or literally hate him. This situation may never be repaired.
It is possible to reverse the damage caused by the Trump administration over time, but it will require a great and inspirational leader.
The mainstream media continues to ask, “which candidate can beat Trump?” The truth is that question is ridiculous. The four top Democrats would crush the orange man. Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, and Kamala Harris are all qualified, competent, and intelligent. Most importantly, they have been or are United States Senators. Never again can we elect an inexperienced man or woman as our president.
It’s not only important to remove Trump from the White House, we must send his cowardly party home from Washington. Republicans are the enemy of the people.
Tell everyone; “the truth lives here.”
