“Democratic Senator Chris Coons frets over Beto upsetting the AK-47 crowd.” This was the headline, and I have a big problem with it.

Here’s the truth; 90 percent of all guns in America are owned by 10 percent of Americans who are rightfully described as “gun nuts.” These people are brainwashed and would never vote for a Democrat. So, who cares if they are upset that Beto O’Rourke would ban military assault rifles?

More importantly, the revolting number of mass shootings by individuals in America would abruptly change if there were no weapons of mass destruction in the hands of civilians. Banning these weapons is the right thing to do.

This is what all Americans should expect of our elected officials. They should not serve special interests, or be focused on reelection. Their only job is to serve the needs and wishes of the majority.

Delaware Senator Chris Coons is a politician first, and an American second. He is what is wrong with our government today.

Politicians claim that our nation’s growing problem with domestic terrorism; gun violence and mass shootings; is ‘complicated.’ I call bullshit. No other nation in the world has this problem because no other nation in the world allows civilians to possess weapons designed to kill as many people as possible in the shortest period of time. The last country to allow ownership of military weapons was New Zealand. However, after 51 people were killed in two mosques by a single shooter in one day, they were banned.

Personally, I refuse to give my vote to any candidate who accepts money from the un-American NRA gun lobby. It’s time to get serious and make people the priority. Big business can take care of itself.

Tell everyone; “the truth lives here.”
