I searched but cannot find information defining when the Supreme Court discarded it purpose. When our founding fathers, in a great display of wisdom, established “three separate but equal branches of our government,” they could never have foreseen the degradation of the judicial branch of our government.
The men who founded the United States of America were incredibly intelligent and undoubtedly visionaries. Their vision of the new nation would be a form of a democratic republic. Government would consist of three branches which would have separate but equal powers and prevent autocratic rule. Exactly when it began, I cannot tell you, but partisanship has destroyed this balance.
The Executive branch would consist of a president and his or her staff. The legislative branch would be composed of men and women who would establish laws and oversee and control the powers of the president. The judicial branch would be unique in the fact that it would be apolitical. Its sole purpose was to ensure that laws established by the other two branches were not in violation of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Sadly, at some point during the 20th century the Court became politicized. Today, whoever is the President of the United States appoints justices based on political bias.
During President Obama’s last term, he nominated Merrick Garland for the seat formerly occupied by right-wing extremist, Antonin Scalia. Judge Garland was respected by men and women on both sides of the aisle and considered a moderate who would not be prejudiced. Moscow Mitch McConnell refused to hold confirmation hearings and the seat on the Court remained unfilled until the most ignorant and illegitimate president in history took office on January 20, 2017.
Trump has appointed two justices. Both are tools of the right-wing, and one is an alleged sexual predator. Moscow Mitch pressed his failed party to confirm both men who are in direct opposition to the intent of Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Madison, Adams, and the others.
A recent decision by the Court supported Trump’s racism and denied the rights guaranteed by federal law for men and women seeking asylum to receive a fair hearing based on claims of human rights violations.
“Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote a brief but pointed dissent Wednesday evening from a Supreme Court order that effectively locked nearly all Central American migrants out of the asylum process. Asylum allows foreign nationals who face certain forms of persecution to seek refuge in the United States.”
Under Trump, our nation, which was formerly a champion of human rights, allowed our bigoted illegitimate president to deny all Hispanics an opportunity to be heard by the federal court system. His “Hitleresque” attitude is an abomination but especially so when the individual claims to be the President of the United States.
Politicians have become the destructive force in America and the Court has become complicit in their self-serving efforts. This is an indication of the end of America.
Who are the perpetrators of this effort to destroy our nation? At the forefront is Moscow Mitch McConnell. As the worst Senate Majority Leader in history, he has committed acts of treason against America. His personal ambitions and policy of party first are responsible for the dysfunctional government we have today.
Our check and balance system has been destroyed, and Republicans are to blame.
